The biggest unnecessary expenditure by people in India is medicines. Nobody cares what are they consuming and why are they consuming all these chemicals? They just want to be fit in just a day and for that they don't care whoever prescribes them.
Quacks are everywhere, not only in rural areas but also in urban places. These quacks are not limited to just as medical practitioners. On pharmacy stores we can also find such quacks without qualifications. People are loaded with the unnecessary multiple drugs and cured within two or three days for simple diseases but this isn't a way to prescribe.
Unnecessary multiple medicines in a single prescription lead to polypharmacy which is one of the dangerous things for the patients' health as well as wealth. Antibiotics resistance, adverse drug reactions, drug drug interactions all these crisis increase with the number of medicines in a single prescription. One may be cured easily but one's organs may get damaged by such prescribed irrelevant chemicals for long time.
The problem behind these issues is not only polypharmacy but the prescriber is also the same criminal especially when he or she isn't authorised to prescribe and dispense the allopathy medicines. In countries like India Ayurveda and Homeopathy doctors are prescribing allopathy drugs and it's totally an offense but our system allows them to do so in government premises. We know that there is always lack of doctors for such a big population and that's why government is preparing the healthcare workers far less qualified from allopathy doctors to serve in rural areas. They aren't even eligible to prescribe anything but by violating the rules of Pharmacy Act deliberately they are allowed to dispense the medicines.
Now a days people are also satisfied by multiple health workers and female health workers to cure their physical problems. Even ASHAs (accredited social health activists) are also helping people to the root level. All these are the key components and most essential part of our health system but when they try to be a doctor and use the medicines without consulting the pharmacists or doctors, it always turns into a risk to the population. They should be what they're meant to be rather than being an official quack.
Pharmacists possess the second highest qualification as well as knowledge about allopathy medicines after doctors but they aren't recognised for the alternative of doctors in rural healthcare system. Though Pharmacists can't be considered parallel to doctors, they can prescribe far better than other non qualified health workers and quacks.
Unfortunately even pharmacists aren't the pure soul themselves as they rent their licenses to the unauthorised personals and promote the quacks in dispensing. Such dummy pharmacy stores fill the prescriptions without seeing the validity of the prescription. People can purchase a drug from such pharmacy stores as long as the prescription paper can survive. They are also dispensing the schedule H or schedule X drugs without consulting any doctors. Even such stores are unethically dispensing MTP kits without prescription of authorised designated doctors. What else can be thought?
So ultimately dispensing in India is now emerging as a major upcoming disaster. The result of this unlawful and unethical practice will lead us to the more giant problems of antibiotic resistance in very nearby future.
Final Funda: You have heard about Naturopathy, Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy etc but I bet you haven't heard about Dexapathy yet which is quite popular in rural areas of Incredible India.
