Is traditional pharmacy still superior than online pharmacy?

The most important luxury developed by human in 21st century is home delivery of anything. A man has evolved a lot but at the same time he is going into the idle state of lifestyle. Though it's a good thing actually to make the life easier, it can't be true for all of the products we use. Especially the things which deals with human life can't be ignored easily. It is the coolesst thing nowadays to order online. In metro and mega cities the culture is developed already to the food dishes and now it's entering into the small towns too. It's not a hazardous thing to stop someone using online delivery services. But when it's a matter of medicine, It surely needs some attention. Over the years, the way people purchase medicines has evolved significantly. The advent of technology has given birth to the concept of online pharmacies, which has revolutionized the traditional pharmacy industry. Online pharmacies, also known as e-pharmacies, allow customers to order med...

Are Diabetes and Hypertension overrated?

A man aged 45 was taken to the hospital. The reason was just fall down due to vertigo. It wasn't his first time. Seldom such events were found in the history. The reason could be any serious thing but actually it was pretty simple. He was on antidiabetic medicines for last 6 months. The medicine was started just after two readings of fingertip sugar within 3 days on different time frame after and before lunch. Was it enough data to diagnose a giant one? Actually the diabetic readings were just temporary. Medications worked wrong for him and hypoglycemic shock was the reason of his fainting. Just some sugar cubes or a chocolate could be the treatment of that time for the conscious patient otherwise you just had to drip in plain dextrose infusion. World is suffering from non communicable diseases (NCD) widely. Lifestyle is the key substance behind this ' NCDemic '. Cancer, hyper or hypothyrodism, obesity, hypertension, diabetes etc are the well-known players of this team. Bu...

Why is rural India suffering from doctor deficiency?

We are moving towards the development. Indian people have changed their lifestyles rapidly in last decade. Our urban and metro areas are filled with luxurious lifestyle and at the same time villages are shrinking day by day. The only reason is the lack of the speed of development. Rapidly the cities are growing but the same thing and pace doesn't apply to the rural areas. That's why lots of inconvenience stops the people to spend whole life in village especially public servants. If public servants don't want to stay here, how will be the development of rural areas possible?   We can figure out other rural problems slowly but we can't neglect the health services. To the last person health is the most serious and necessary service for the survival and healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately we are still a little slow on it. Ayushyman Bharat Yojana tried to patch this void space but a lot of things need to be done rapidly. Almost on every 1 lac population there should be a Comm...

Safe motherhood and its challenges

The best feeling of the world only a woman can describe is motherhood. Everything changes suddenly after a new life in the lap.  All the priorities come behind that little miracle. It looks very pretty and interesting but wait this motherhood pays a lot in terms of a woman's life. Every year on April 11 we celebrate National Safe Motherhood Day on Smt. Kasturba Gandhi's birthday.  This day is the occasion to think over motherhood and its challenges. Pregnancy is a precious gift but at the same time there is always a risk for the mother. All the women go through this challenge to welcome the new life. To raise the awareness about prenatal, childbirth and postnatal services this day is a symbolic presentation to maintain healthy motherhood throughout the year. During pregnancy and post pregnancy the most common mistakes done by Indians are improper diet plan. They don't take it seriously and that's why there is abundance of cases we can see of anemia. Anemia isn't jus...

Are Health and wellness centres serving the purpose?

Last some years were very volatile for the public health sector. Corona crisis shook the entire sector but in another way it also lead the sector to come out of it with the strength. Before the pandemic Indian government introduced the ambitious plan of Ayushman Bharat. The major bullets of this scheme were Ayushman medical insurance card and Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs).  HWC is the new structure of rural health and that is why it takes some hard controversies at the time of introduction of NMC bill. The major controversy of this new system was the qualification of the Community Health Officers (CHO) appointed on HWC. Especially doctors opposed with strikes on this new idea of NMC bill. They were totally offended by the decision made by govt to provide a doctor like service from a noncapable paramedics who were just nursing personals with six months of bridge course. The qualification as well as responsibilities given to the CHO was actually a master stroke from gover...

Why do doctors prefer particular brands of medicines?

No.. it's not a debate on generic vs branded. It's branded vs branded. As a modern person everyone likes to be up to date with latest brands whether they're wearbles or fashions or technologies or appliances. We make our surroundings full of latest things. Now a days nobody wants even android 9 phones when android 12 is knocking the door. That's all the psychological tricks a brand creates on mass. In case of healthcare why should we fall behind? Let there be new horizon for medical science too. Day by day we encounter a plenty of news regarding medical technologies and that's why everyday new molecular networks are built to overshadow the existing.  In this race ultimately we obtain a novel thing which minimises our discomforts more aggressively. That's the need of time. In this case we can't deny the efficiency of old one but we get newer options to compete and competition is always beneficial to consumers. So more will be the options better will be the sc...

Corona vaccine: hesitancy and eagerness

...And finally 2021 is rising with the news of corona vaccine approval in India. The most awaited moment has been arrived. The dangerous 2020 slapped us from every aspect including health, economy, social life and mental stability. 2020 tested us from the bottom and here we are at the edge of 2021. All those who survived this difficult time are the warriors according to Darwin's principle 'The Survival of Fittest'.  But still the fittest testing is on. The audition for the best human being is still continue.   Now it's time for vaccine administration. The hope and courage our scientists have been showing should not be wasted by our irresponsible acts. Corona virus was an unsolved question just before some months and now we are gradually getting rid of it. We have so many doubts in our minds and the same doubts have been arised from the vaccine arrival.   We knew nothing about vaccine. That leads us to guess various ideas about its composition, its efficacy and i...

Vaccine nationalism: Will humanity lose the race?

Our vocabulary has been enriched in 2020. In first half of this year we went through 'quarantine', 'lockdown', 'plasma therapy' like words and now in second half we are encountering the words like 'herd immunity', ' clinical trial', 'corona vaccine' etc. In these 2020 dictionary one more word should be added and that is 'vaccine nationalism'. Courtesy: Jakarata Post This word is neither patriotic nor scientific. It is a straight indicator of a race towards vaccine. World is waiting for the antidote of this global pandemic and the vaccine is considered as a solution of this problem atleast. In the beginning of 2020 when corona virus has started spreading all over the world, every country was confused and trying to get help globally. Such countries started talking on helping hand philosophy and what else you can do when you're helpless? But silently developed countries put another hand on vaccine development. Scientists from all...

Patient satisfaction: the ultimate goal of any healthcare unit

We always optimize our business to satisfy our customers. But here can we assume the patients as customers? Are they really same or the different? Leave it, these are actually the secondary questions. The first and most important is the satisfaction of a human being for any service or product.  Patients visiting at any health facility have the random mindsets about the decisions and the risk factors for the problems they are facing mentally or physically. The things they want from the health facility aren't only the perfect cure of their problems, but also the convenient atmosphere and behavior of the health staff. These small things also matter a lot for the full impression of health services in patients' minds. Though the primary aspect of any health facility is to diagnose the real disease and its management, the other factors also make impacts on the final outcome. ⏳ Waiting period From entry to exit, the most of time patients spend in hospital is between the...

Are you addicted to social media?

Orkut was the first toy of mine to be thrilled by interacting someone around or anonymous. I set an account on it and started searching my schoolmates. That was the amazing experience. But after that everyday atleast twice or thrice I used to log in the orkut just to see the new notifications from my friends. Sometimes I sent messages to the friends and their answers were awaiting for days, I felt uncomfortable and then I realised myself neglected. Fortunately within a year orkut passed away and an era of facebook began. The same curiosity and time was spent on facebook for somedays and afterthat it seemed uninteresting. So I took a long break of almost several months from facebook. And now I am active on facebook today. Ok. You are bored of reading all this stuff which is actually same for most of us. Especially 90s kids are the first generation who entered in this social media network in their college life. But now it's not simple as it was. The things are being tough day by day....

ABCD (anybody can dispense) is ruining the health of India

The biggest unnecessary expenditure by people in India is medicines. Nobody cares what are they consuming and why are they consuming all these chemicals? They just want to be fit in just a day and for that they don't care whoever prescribes them.  Quacks are everywhere, not only in rural areas but also in urban places. These quacks are not limited to just as medical practitioners. On pharmacy stores we can also find such quacks without qualifications. People are loaded with the  unnecessary multiple drugs and cured within two or three days for simple diseases but this isn't a way to prescribe.  Unnecessary multiple medicines in a single prescription lead to polypharmacy which is one of the dangerous things for the patients' health as well as wealth. Antibiotics resistance, adverse drug reactions, drug drug interactions all these crisis increase with the number of medicines in a single prescription. One may be cured easily but one's organs may get damaged by such prescri...

Nosocomial infection: The challenging part of the quality care

Infection from the hospital premises during hospital stay or visit is considered as a hospital acquired infection. Nosocomial infection is the medical term which is used for hospital acquired infection. The word "nosocomial" is made up of two Greek words. The prefix "noso-" comes from "nosus" meaning disease and "-comial" comes from "komeion" meaning to take care of. Nosocomial could therefore refer to any affliction acquired by a patient while under medical supervision. It now refers more narrowly to a hospital-acquired infection. The most important parameter of hospital is nosocomial infection rate. This rate decides the quality of services provided by the hospital authorities. We know that this hallmark metric of quality do not just reveal a number but the essence of the preventive care by the hospital itself. To serve the biggest population while controlling the infections all around the premises is the challenging work in India, ...

Are you Covid stigma positive?

Recently 19 year old girl was thrown out of the bus in UP after the passengers in bus supposed her Covid19 positive by symptoms. Though she wasn't tested positive yet, the driver and the conductor stopped the bus and pulled her out on the midway. Her mother pleaded a lot to them but they weren't convinced. Just after 30 minutes the girl died on the road. Postmortem report stated it 'cardiac arrest' and dead person was not tested for Covid19 as per policy.  Here the question is not either she was Covid19 positive or negetive, but the way she was humiliated by the passengers is the big issue rising day by day. The people on bus shouldn't do so even if she was Covid19 positive. The things happening all around after this pandemic put us on the edge of the bay. Misconceptions are emerging as a big enemy after this pandemic. Even WHO is also serious on this matter and trying to stop this infodemic. [ પેન્ડેમિકથી પણ ખતરનાક છે ઇન્ફોડેમિક ] Early days in this pandemic human ...
